Ultrasound 2 - IPS Test

Erin had her second ultrasound last week, I will spare you the details, but our unborn child is wiggly and highly uncooperative, so to make it up to Erin I voluntarily watch New Moon, which was predictably terrible.  We don't really have a "working name" for this one yet, tossing around Tikki, which is actually the name of the future babies precious stuffed toy (yes this is a memory we can imprint upon young minds, you will love this toy, this toy brings you comfort.)  Or Gertie, because we thought the movie Moon was refreshingly classic Sci-fi, but that was a ?homicidal? maybe must pathological robot voiced by Kevin Spacy.  So like I said no fixed name yet, not like Bryan, who we called Morgan until he was born.

As for real names, well that is fun to think about and we will tell you when they are born.

In profile looks pretty much like a small human, in motion you could see the little arms and legs flailing about, but at the current setting you can't see them.

The headshot is less flattering, and more alien, but it has to do with bone density and more the slice effect created by the ultrasound.  To get the torso and limbs in focus you end up actually seeing inside the head instead of the face.

Christmas in October

So I got an award at RBC this summer, I was a quarterly STAR winner, which is the largest quarterly award one can get, and I was pretty darn proud about it, and with it came some gift points which I exchanged for some chapters cards. At the same time I also cached in some visa points for some futureshop cards. So here I was sitting on this pile of gift cards, when my Quarterly STAR award was upgraded to a Silver Yearly STAR award, which is really good. We have 4 tiers, Convention, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. The convention winners are the top dogs, and they go with the convention winners from the other devisions of the company, and a guest of their choosing to a professional development convention, on a giant fraking cruise ship in the Caribbean in January. In spite of the boondoggle it sounds like, the non-guests, ie the RBC employee winners actually do have a mini convention, but it doesn't take up the whole trip, still tres cool, and a little jealous, but I didn't warrant myself a convention winner, hope yes, but expect no :)

So I digress, my award got bumped to a silver, and i got yet more reward points, so yeah me, and my points. So I've been on a gift card shopping spree these last few days and am now laden with books. Erin got a bunch of Octavia Butler, I also got the new Terry Brooks Landover Novel--cry and possibly last as a brilliant writers mind gets eaten away by altimeters ):

What else is in the pile, some D&D books, 2-3 seasons of TV, some movies, the new Diane Gabaldon, and the new Neil Gaimen tween novel (seriously, the grave yard book was awesome, so I'm excited for the next one.)

So for the last 2-3 days boxes have been coming in the mail every day (since chapters sent three boxes from their warehouse the same day instead of one big box ...) And for the next few weeks some more will arrive as the preorders become available.

My only sad is I really like buying the D&D books from my FLGS to support them, but free is better then paying I suppose.

Anyways thats all

Not the Weekend I was Expecting

But good none the less,

Friday started as an attempt to get together with Trevor and the three of us go out for dinner and a movie. It never actually made it past the meet with Trevor part, which ended in a impromptu pub night in downtown. Trevor had already wrangled up a bunch of RBC'rs some I knew, and a few new ones, and what started as a pint, just kept going through two live performers and many many rounds. As per usual Erin laughed at me in the morning, apparently I am quite the proliferate thumb typist when out on the town. Anyways, it made for a late, but pleasant night, Trevor and his gang drink there often enough that they are now friends with the first act, who actually owns what is supposed to be a pretty hip indie music place of his own. Since I have a brain like a sieve I can't remember the name of the place, but it is 'cool.' We were supposed to end up there, but didn't.

Saturday was a take two on Friday, but before we got that far TWO of my friends gave birth whilst I was deep in slumber. Chris and Emma (Chris being that trouble maker Trevor's brother) welcomed into the world young miss Katie, who was in quite the hurry decided that 4 hours was more then enough warning of her intent to join us outside, to actually being here. Mom and baby are now how and doing well, although understandable tired.

Another friend relatively new friend Pierre and his wife (whom I actually haven't met yet,) welcomed Annabelle, who was actually in less of a hurry, and had happily grown to 12lbs 4oz... Pierre's wife is in a bit of discomfort, but recovering.

Both were born in the wee wee hours of the morn.

So with babies on the brain Erin and I did our own registry at Baby's R Us, I'd link it, but I can't seem too do so, but if you can in theory, when it is working, look up the registry under Erin's name. We then visited Chris and Emma at the hospital, Emma was out finally getting some rest, and Chris was masterfully handling the baby, I promise Emma, he caught her on the first bounce. :P )

We then did meet up with Trevor for the dinner and a movie, dinner being at our house, with a side of some board games, and chillen in the dark for earth hour, followed by that new gambling flick 21. Not the best casino movie ever made, but pretty good, the lead actor whose name slips my mind but was also in Across the Universe is pretty good, and someone to keep an eye on. Now maybe it was the haze of a busy day, and late prior night, but I have to concede missing the triple cross at the end which Erin had guessed would happen. So one point for Erin on the predictometer, I think that narrows my lead to only infinity - 1. :p

Sunday was more subdue, Erin is feeling better and now back to the gym, while I helped with the groceries. We then ran around did some errands and chores, then ended at Erin's parents for a nice dinner, and a show-and-tell on the many ongoing projects for 'Morgan's' room.

So not what I was expecting, but good.

Had a little nerdgasm

The movie feels like it has been in development almost as long as Duke Nukem Forever is actually coming to theaters this May.

Between Indy 4, and The Mummy 3, it is going to be a great month!

Yet Another Victory in the Format War

Michael Bay "drinks the Kool Aid," now supports HD DVD
Amazing what a little cash can do...

While I am generally opposed to hypocrisy, and a fan of integrity, as and HD-DVD'r and firmly in the anti-Sony camp (please disregard my new cell phone) I will take what I can get. So Hooray Micheal Bay, Hooray HD, and perhaps Hooray Kool-AID

Yar Har! Another Win of the Format War

Paramount to blu-ray: Bu Bye!

Okay, I only have a vested interest in this because I bought an HD-DVD contrary to many of my key DVD sources, and now I need HD to win.

So a mighty victory for my format!

Huzzah!

So here goes

OMG! WTBEAR, Awesome Sauce!

Not the most articulate, but seriously, go see this movie. In fact take your life savings put it in an envelope and mail it to Neil Gaiman so he can make more awesomeness.

"Real Men Love The Fifth Element"

Okay, nothing much to say here, except I agree with the review, its a great movie. The review is just a fun read, and made me like it more.
